Harambee Stars travel to Namibia this Thursday to play the Brave Warriors in a world cup qualifier match.

Namibia lost to Nigeria 1-0 in Calabar while the homeboys managed to pick a point at home against the Flames of Malawi. There is so much at stake here and we at Kenyanstar have decided to profile some of the players that are set to blaze opponents in the run to qualifying for Brazil 2014.
Arnold Origi Otieno

Born in 1983, Origi has is the undisputed Kenya One. He has been on the rescue for Kenya on several occasions with the notable one being last November when he rescued the national team from the jaws of defeat in hands of Uganda Cranes.

Career
Origi launched his career when he was 9 years old in Dandora with the MYSA academy. At the tender age, he featured for several sides including Young Mighties, Espanol and Ngara Youth Pelico. He joined  Mathare United before heading to Tusker Fc in the Kenya Premier League. With his star shining bright, the lanky goalkeeper found his way out of the country and joined Moss FK in 2009 in Norway where he had 44 caps for the club. He later moved to another Norwegian club Fredrisktad in 2011. Currently, the shotstopper is currently playing for second division side Ullensaker/Kisa Idrettslag in Norway.

International career.

Origi launched his international career in 2006  and it was a day to forget for Kenya, who were hoping for a revival under new coach Bernard Lama.  First, goalkeeper Arnold Origi miscontroled a harmless back pass from Tom Juma and allowed the ball to trickle into his own net to give Eritrea the lead.

Harambee Stars went on to lose the match 2-1 to the disappointment of many fans. In 2008, Origi sustained a career threatening knee injury in the match against Zimbabwe and this has made him on and off in the national team. He has played 16 times for the country and most of the time, he has produced match winning saves for stars. Early this year, Origi announced his retirement from international football but he has since reversed the decision.

Personal life.

Origi comes from a football family. His father Austin Oduor played for the national team Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia in his hey days. Mike Okoth always known for his goal scoring abilities is Origi’s uncle and the goalkeeper seems to have learnt from the best.
With Harambee Stars scheduled to take on Namibia and Togo in the coming weeks, Origi will surely play an integral part in making Stars keep a clean sheet.
