Erick ‘Titis’ Ouma - The master of Golden boots
Tuesday, 30 November 2010 12:24

Just at the age of 12 years, Titis has become a darling for the media and football fans alike. Titis schools at Ayany primary school (recently completed standard 7) and trains with the Ras foundation sponsored  future zion Academy.

He is a utility player that performs in all positions as may be instructed by the coach. But his aggression in front of goal is what has caught the attention of various football stake holders that have had a chance to see him play. The ruthless striker is our Kenyan star of the week.

Soft spoken, humble, amazingly disciplined and extremely professional at a tender age might not be enough to describe young Erick Ouma. His humble nature is however lost in front of goal. His powerful shot and aggression in front of goal has amazed many visitors of the future zion soccer academy including  kpl side sony sugar’s flamboyant defender Kansey Dodo Kayomdo.

Titis as he is commonly referred to by his peers  came in to the limelight at the east African Ligi cup(2010) tournament where he turned up for future zion’s under 14 team.  Even though he netted 7 goals to win the top scorers award, his team was eliminated at the semi-finals. Still with the same team his prowess continued at the kibera Amani cup where he emerged top scorer once again despite his team loosing out in the finals. This was a replicate of the Sadili tournament that came soon after the Amani tournament. Titis emerged the top scorer with his team loosing out in the finals.

Titis’ football talent has attracted massive attention from the media but as his coach Benjamin Kipruto confides to kenyanstar, this has brought challenges of equal proportion.  ‘Their have been various attempts to take titis out of future’ he says. ‘we can not stand in the way of any good move for him but it should be professional enough for anyone who wants to take up training of any of our players to consult not only us but also their parents’ he adds. Coach Benjamin says that kangaroo moves being made by people he calls scrupulous coaches are not good for the young star’s career.

Titis received a standing ovation and wild cheers from the present crowd when he was called to receive the top scorer’s award in the recently concluded Orange mabingwa tournament.  He netted a total 7 goals including a brace in the final where his team lost the penalty shoot out 5-4.

Speaking to kenyanstar moments after receiving his award, he reveals that he is a fan of Manchester united and that he would like to play for Kenyan football giants, Gor-mahia, sometime in his football career. With four top scorer awards under his belt for the 2010 season, Titis hopes for winners medal in the coming season.

Kenyanstar wishes Erick ‘Titis’ Ouma all the best in his career. May you live to win the golden boot award in the world biggest soccer tournament.
