It kicked off flawlessly in Daegu
But don't confuse this with Hague
Gold Silver Bronze in women's Marathon
Kirui too defended the men's Marathon
Vivacious Vivian struck double gold
As usual Rudisha returned it as of old
And Asbel made history once
But who can forget Kemboi's dance

Back home the Stars played a qualifier
A poorly attended football affair
The visiting  minnows almost grabbed a top story
We got away with an unconvincing victory
Courtesy of a ferocious Leopard Barry Mike
And a Dennis the Menace stoppage time strike
Still we have to get past tricky neighbours
Coupled with luck and mathematics

Allan Wanga was missing in action
But he netted a gorgeous bride
A journalist and a mother for a wife
Other sportsmen should follow suit
But Allan don't extend the honeymoon
We need you back on the pitch
That was the week that was
In Kenyan sports circles
