Kenyatta Otieno Word is out that Collins Kisuya is disappointed for not getting enough play time at Belgium’s club Beerschot FC. We all remember how he slipped into the country from national duty in Kampala and slipped out the same way to Belgium. All these happening as AFC Leopards threatened to take actions because he had a contract with them. Kisuya did not see it fit to inform Leopards officials that he had been offered a deal in Belgium that he did not want to let pass. He decided to step on the plate he had been eating from on his way to greener pastures. It is human folly to be absorbed with a good prospect and forget what the present environment has done to prepare you for what lies ahead. Thiery Henry’s return to Emirates has taught us that it is vital to leave our bridges intact. Arsene Wenger and Arsenal FC have always opened their facilities for Henry to train with them. He played his best football at Arsenal and left in good faith for Spanish giants Barcelona. I believe he will cherish the two months he has signed at Arsenal more than the eight seasons he spent their earlier. What do you do when you get a better paying job? Do you start bad mouthing your current employer and pull a ‘Kisuya’ on them? Life with all adversity in it has a dry sense of humour, it is always painful when it punks you. You wake up one day face to face with your former boss at your current dream job or worse still when you have to go back. Football teaches us great lessons that we can apply in life off the stadia. I commend Eric Masika (PPO) for staying put at Gor as his move to Leopards generated controversy and media exchanges. George Midenyo also bought out his contract at Tusker before moving to K’ogallo. It is always a matter one more second of thought or seeking advice from people who know better. I know Kitawi was frustrated at Zico’s snubbing him in team selection and opted to join Tusker, he has been gladly welcomed at Gor again this season. Situma has found a home and a million shilling token to boot at Sofapaka even after his Albania deal going sour. You may need to use that bridge again to cross into another new season in life, do not burn it. |
